Innovative Applications of Weather and Climate Data in the Energy Industry
LOCATION
Understanding how extreme weather and climate change impacts the energy sector has never been more important. With increased reliance on weather-dependent renewables, the power system is becoming more exposed to weather related risk. As a result, understanding how to effectively use weather and climate data to quantify this risk is crucial.
This event brings together energy sector professionals working in both the public and private sectors to discuss how weather and climate data is being used, the benefits of doing this, and also potential challenges.
These experts will present specific case studies where they have used weather and climate data in their profession. The event will conclude with a panel discussion, which will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions about the talks and engage with speakers.
This event is open to all, but broadly aimed at those working across meteorology and/or the energy sector, who want to learn more about how weather and climate data is being used, the potential benefits, challenges and future applications.
Speakers
Applications of Met Office data for quantifying climate risk for the energy industry
Katie Chowienczyk, UK Met Office
