Linda Hirons

Linda Hirons has a background in Tropical Meteorology and the drivers of weather and climate variability and change over Africa. Previous work has focused on understanding sources of sub-seasonal predictability, their representation in global models and they influence high-impact weather over Africa. More recently leading to working with communities of forecasters, researchers and decision-makers in Africa towards co-producing reliable and actionable sub-seasonal forecasts for application in Energy, Health, Agriculture and Food Security sectors. She is passionate about seeing advances in scientific understanding lead to improvements in the anticipating and communicating earlier warning of high-impact events to build climate-resilient African communities.
