Karen Helliesen grew up witnessing climate change's impact on her hometown in Norway, igniting her passion for tackling the climate crisis. Recently graduated from BSc (Hons) Environmental Geoscience at the University of Edinburgh and due to commence her master’s degree this September, Karen is committed to the advancement of climate science. Despite her young age, she approaches her academic endeavours with maturity and determination, eager to contribute meaningfully to the scientific community.

Presented at the conference, her research originated from her undergraduate dissertation within the field of aerosol science. Through investigating the impacts from aerosols on vapour pressure deficit, she explores the complex relationships between atmospheric dynamics and vegetation and wishes to encourage fellow researchers to further investigate this field.
