Ian Simpson Dr Ian Simpson is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Antarctic Extreme Weather at the University of Lincoln. He completed a PhD in “Precipitation variability across the UK: Observations and model simulations” in 2012 and worked at the Met Office National Climate Information Centre as a Climate Data Scientist from October 2014 to February 2021. He then worked as a post-doc in seasonal weather prediction with the aid of complex machine learning methods. His research interests include weather and climate extremes and synoptic climatology, particularly with respect to north-west Europe and the polar regions. Paper/s North Atlantic Atmospheric Circulation and Jet Stream Variability: Links with summer and winter temperature and precipitation in north-west Europe and the UK, and a new seasonal forecasting method
