What will make the public and politicians take climate change more seriously?
LOCATION
Whiteknights, Reading RG6 6AH
To commence a new year in the local centre calendar, the RMetS South-East Centre would like to invite you for a discussion on the political and public attitudes towards climate change. The event will host a number of experts in the field of climate change science to discuss whether our attitude towards climate change is proactive enough to mitigate the potential risks. Panel members come from a range of backgrounds, including Sir Brian Hoskins, Chair of the Grantham Institute and member of the UK Government Climate Change Committee, Rachel McCloy who advises governmental bodies on behalf of the Walker Institute, and finally Paul Simons, a well-known journalist who writes (The Times, The Guardian) to raise environmental awareness. Panel members will each give a short presentation, and then the floor will be opened for questions and discussion.
The meeting will be held in the Sutcliffe Lecture Theatre of the Department of Meteorology that is accessible through the Earley Gate entrance to the Whiteknights campus of the University of Reading.
