The process towards the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report Working Group I

ABSTRACT | This talk will outline the process behind the construction of the Working Group I contribution (the “physical science basis”) to the 6th Assessment Report of the IPCC, expected in April 2021. I will describe the objectives and scope of the report, is relationship to WG II and WG III, and to the Coupled Model Intercomparison Projects such as CMIP6. I’ll describe the various author and reviewer roles, the approach to assessing the literature, as well as other related documents such as the Technical Summary and Summary for Policymakers.
