Hear from Jo and Manali as they talk about the value of TV weather forecasts, the challenge of miss-information and the fine balance of climate communication.
Speakers
Jo Farrow
My interest in the weather started at the age of 12 when I completed my Girl Guide Weatherman (yes, man) badge. After studying Geophysical Sciences at UEA in Norwich, I trained as a weather forecaster at the Met. Office in Reading, at the weather bubble of Shinfield Park. I’ve worked as a forecaster at the former Birmingham Weather Centre, media centre for ITV productions at South Bank, Waterloo and at BBC Television Centre appearing on News24, BBC1, BBC World and Radio 4. Since 2008 I have presented on STV as backfill cover and have been enjoying the Scottish weather. I’m also still a Guide Leader, a Girl-guiding volunteer, although I can't guarantee good weather for camping.
