OBSERVERS' NOTES
Middleton: 4 months of 2009 is driest start to a year since 1976.
Calmest April on record
Cosby: A very mild, dry and sunny month
Louth: Significant rainfall deficiency after a dry March and drier April
Pitsford Hall: Freak hailstorms with thunder reported in parts of the County
Mickleover: Least number of ground frosts for April on my records
Derby: Second warmest April on record (since 1952)
Loughborough: No day with a maximum in single figures
Ely: Both 2nd warmest and 2nd driest April in 39 years records (after 2007)
Desford: Severe thunderstorm nearby on 28th with 2-3cm diameter hail which
accumulated to 10cm in Blaby (south Leicester)
