Anyone with a genuine interest in the weather, its impact or the science behind it, or in the interface with related disciplines, such as hydrology and oceanography can join the Society. Meetings and Conferences
We
hold regular meetings in London and throughout the country.
The latest scientific and meteorological issues and research
are discussed at these meetings.We also hold a regular biennial conference. Our student membership is very active and holds a conference every year. Find Out More >>

Types of membership
Associate Fellow
No formal qualifications are required other than an expressed
interest in the subject. Apply
online or request an application
form from membership@rmets.org. -
Fellow
Normally
requires a formal qualification (eg. a first degree in a science
subject and/or post-graduate degree or an NVQ in a relevant
discipline) and at least five years of professional experience
within or directly related to meteorology. -
School Member
Schools
are also welcome to join at a much reduced subscription rate.
There are many benefits available to participating schools
from the Society’s comprehensive education programme.
These include borrowing scientific equipment and education
resources and access to grants for meteorology projects.

Corporate Member
Corporate
membership of the Society is open to all organisations that
wish to support the Society’s charitable objectives.
It offers an opportunity to show corporate leadership and to
play an active role in supporting the Society deliver its programmes
of work.

Honorary Member
This
is a signal honour bestowed by the Society at their discretion
on distinguished members of the profession and carries the
full privileges of Fellowship. Honorary Members are entitled
to use the letters HonMemRMetS, (pictured Prof Sir Brian Hoskins)

Students
Great benefits for full time students! Reduced fees, bursaries, scholarships and grants.
There is no lower age limit but those over 21 may be required to provide proof of student status.
